I'm 100% new to all of this... looking into buying a gun. I'm definitely not a girly girl, but I don't really feel like playing if it's a boys club.

Soo, that sounded pretty crappy and I don't want to get off on the wrong foot here. I'll just start over. Hi, I'm new, I'm a girl. I'd like to play but I don't have the first clue where to start. I'm looking at a AEG Electric P90 assault rifle, not the Tokyo Marui (a little rich for my blood, especially not knowing if I'll like the sport) but a cheaper model. I found one that I like and is in my price range. I have bdu's (from a Halloween costume... they are real though... I'm a total nerd LOL) I also have good boots and a tactical vest that I'd like to use. I'm pretty much set to go as far as clothing requirements I just don't really know where to go from there... so any help would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to the forums; yes, girls can and do play. Sounds like you're good to go minus the airsoft gun. I am guessing you're looking at the KS or the Echo 1 P90, but here's a list of the cheapest P90 AEGs.: KS P90: $ $135 www.airsoftgi.com/product_info.php?products_id=4716Echo 1 P90: $170 www.airsoftgi.com/product_info.php?products_id=3819Classic Army P90 Sportline: $170 www.airsoftgi.com/product_info.php?products_id=4124 All these P90s can be upgraded further down the road. I just used that website to show pictures, as you can get either of the 3 from local dealers. (Crazy Cromags or PB Sports.) I would suggest looking into other guns as well, just in case you find something that will suit you better. Batteries & Charger: Most here will suggest Intellect brand batteries as they are very good. A smart charger is also recommended -which can be picked up for $30 new- as it stops charging the battery once it is full. Which is good because too much of a charge can damage the battery pack. You'll probably see different battery packs that read something like "Intellect 8.4v 1600mah." The 8.4v means the voltage and the bigger the voltage number the more ROF (Rate of Fire) you get. The 1600 mah mean 1600 milliamps per hour, which dictates how long the battery will last. Battery does not effect FPS. Eye Protection: Most here wear shooting glasses but you can also wear full seal goggles, paintball mask, etc. Any other questions, feel free to ask.

Thanks! Just a couple more questions (for now)... I know that AEG guns probably fall into the category of "you get what you pay for" but I'm looking to just get a feel for whether this is something that I'll want to invest a lot of time and or money into. I found this gun and pretty well had my mind made up: www.hobbytron.com/AirsoftSubMachineGunGunAEGCMD90H.htmlWhat are your thoughts, anyone, as to whether it will fall apart or be a good starter gun? I have my heart set on a P90, but am looking at a few pistols to supplement that gun. A girl can never have too many guns, right? This is all to go along with an authentic Stargate costume that I've been putting together over the last few years... and I figured if I'm going to have all these guns I may as well get some use and fun out of them as well! My other question is do most or all AEG guns take the same size BBs? I've been hearing a lot about how using the wrong size BB can ruin your gun. Definitely don't want that to happen! So do I just go with a standard size? Or does each gun have a specific size that it takes? Thanks again!

welcome to the boards. all of us will agree do not use .12 bb's they can break apart in the barrel. most of us use either a .20 or .25.

For bbs they all pretty much use 6mms. Although they usually are more like 5.95 or 5.98mm. You want to use good quality bbs and at least .20g bbs. I bought that P90 from the same exact place when I first started and that was just me shooting it at the target in my house. (Took awhile for them to ship it) Honestly, don't buy it. It is hopper fed (like a paintball gun) so it doesn't feed well, it has a low FPS, and it has very bad range and accuracy. So I can see 3-4 options. 1) Buy a used AEG. Used guns don't keep their value that much. 2) Buy the $34 P90 and use tactics, sneakiness, etc to get kills. That's what a Sliverpix and Kobalt did and now they have better quality guns. 3) Go to a game and possibly borrow a gun. 4) Possibly buy a MPEG P90 or look into cheaper AEGs. Like this one; www.airsoftgi.com/product_info.php?products_id=1484 ASGI has a 10% off coupon as of now, free shipping, & an additional 10% off on bbs and things. While Evike has 15% off.

I'm seeing a lot of used (and some new) WELL P90s. Is that a decent brand? The same one I was looking at? There was no manufacturer on that site that I posted above... ack.

WELL, is a decent starter brand...but it all comes down to the price your going to pay for it. You can get a JG/KS new for $109 on EVIKE.com, and JG is a better gun then a WELL. If you can get it for a really good price then it should be alright, but if the price is close to the New JG price, then it would not be worth your money.

I think i'm about the only one on the team that has used and owned a P90, to be honest they are not an easiy gun to use due to thier magazines...Now there are two types of magazines for airsoft guns a midcap which holds around 100 round and high caps that hold around 300 or more rounds. Both are a pain in the butt to use for the P90, the issue with the mid caps is that they only hold 75 rounds really isn't enought for a full on fight you need about 100 really in a magazine...as for the high caps I believe you have to take them out of the gun to wind them up...which is a pain because it's valueable minutes being used...I'd suggest going with an M4 style BUT if you are dead set on a P90 get the echo 1 version or the Kart one, DO NOT buy a Well or Classic army both are nothing but junk.

Welcome to the forums.. If you check the videos / pictures section you will see we have had many women play at our field.
As far as the guns are concerned. Make sure you look around and if you have ANY questions do not be afraid to ask. Unlike a lot of other boards regarding airsoft we will not treat a person with disrespect because of a question.

Hmm.. now you've all got me thinking I'll just wait until I can buy a nice gun. I've been nosing around on the internet and apparently the Tokyo Marui is the nicest. How much of it has to do with buying a name? I doubt at this point I'll buy a cheap gun. I'd like to actually be able to hit what I'm aiming for LOL, that'd be an added bonus!
Do you play all through the winter?
Thanks for the warm welcome. I hope I get to join you all on the field soon!

I have the Tokyo Marui P90 it's a very well built gun but the price is a bit up there...the echo 1 and Kart P90 is basicly the same thing you couldn't go wrong with either one.
We normaly take a break during the winter time due to the hunting season...but this year I think we'll play it since we've built are field up a little bit more.
