ok so today i got my KWA metal reciever in the mail for my TM M4A1. Installation was pretty straightforward, however there were a few minor hiccups, like the body pins are a VERY tight fit going through the TM V2 gearbox.
unfortunately there was one Major issue that is leaving me unable to finish the reassembly....the TM retractable stock assembly doesn't fit onto the KWA reciever. on the small little "rod" that sticks out the back of the reciever that the stock mounts to...there is a tiny little "lip" that is on there...and I DO mean tiny. like...maybe 1/32 of an inch....but yet its just big enough that I cannot get the stock assembly onto the reciever.
so i have two options now....get a metal file and file down that "lip" (which might take a loong time...) or find another stock that will fit.
if anyone has any old M4 stock assemblies that they would be willing to sell, or trade for a TM retractable stock, let me know

all "M4" style stocks are the "retractable" kind... im not sure what "lip" your talking about... but i think i would remove it if need be to get the stock you have to work... i believe you are having issues getting the black "tube" to fit... this tube is actualy called the "buffer tube" on the real guns... even the full size regular rifle stocks have a tube in them also... [they just dont have the little "holes" on the bottom that is used for the "adjustment" of the collapsable stocks]... if you can post a pic of the lip, i can tell ya what it is or if ya should get rid of it... or just put your regular gun back together for this saturday... and bring the reciever with ya for me to look at... whatever you wish to do...

Id have Gas look at it, he knows his stuff. Sounds like you should just do away with the lip...

thats what i was thinking...just need a metal file to do that

oh..I would also like to point out that the metal reciever completely fixed my barrel wobble issue. Like 100% wobble free. So I was really happy with it there. Just need to fix my stock and I'll be set.

Oh yeah, tight fitting body pins are a good thing!

indeed! They were a pain to get in but they are holding solid.

looking at that lip... is the reciever extension that the buffer tube fits on, the same size before and after that lip? [the pics are blurry], #1- if the extension IS the same size, then id say grind or file it down with a dremel tool, ... #2- if the extension is "fatter" on the aprox 1inch towards the reciever end of that lip, then my suggestion would be to turn down the buffer tube to fit that raised section... so, i guess its depending on wether or not the extension is the same diameter the entire length or it with a thin little "ridge" on it [remove the ridge], or the front part of the extension is thicker than the section after that ridge line, kinda 2 different diameters on the same extension, then id have the buffer tube turned on a lathe so it would fit over the "step"... i cant tell from these pics if its one way or the other... i can do either job necessary, if you cant... just let me know...

the "extension" is fatter all the way back to the end of the reciever. so a lathe would work. I just didn't know you could use a lathe to bore out the inside of an object. and i also didn't know you could lathe metal objects. The only lathe I ever used was in a woodshop and only worked on the outside of the object. I'll show it to ya tomorrow if ya wanna take a look at it. how much would you charge for something like that?

ill take a look at it tomorrow... and, yea... i can turn the inside of an object only so far as the tool will reach... which i think will be enough... bring the reciever and the tube.

alright. I currently do have the metal body installed so I'll bring the tools required to disassemble the stock

as shown in that last pic..it is assembled...but there is a gap between the buffertube and the reciever and because of the gap there is an open hole in the back of my gearbox that leads straight into the mechbox. I'm gonna cover that hole with ductape but because of the buffertube not fitting on properly i just have an open hole into the gearbox. that is the main reason i wanna get the stock on properly.
