I'm not sure if this is the right board to be posting this on but I didn't find a questions specific board. Or maybe I didn't look hard enough, alas though on to my question. Now I'm looking into getting a metal body for my Stag Arms M4, and upon reading the descriptions for many metal bodies offered they advise also getting a metal hop-up unit. I'm very curious as to why that is, it's doesn't seem like it would make much of a difference whether it were metal or not. But i've been wrong before.

thats a good question. I dont think the corelation is behind the metal body + metal hop. I suppose its the thinking "Upgrade the body and you might as well upgrade the hop up too"?? Not sure. In function, its a tight fit in the lower reciever for the gear box anyway. I would probably go with the metal hop as well (providing it has a good seal at the mag-to-feed in the magwell. Metal hop-ups will last longer and take more stress and strain than the plastic counterparts, but I dont think it would affect the body upgrade one bit. First Ive heard of this recommendation, so I too am unclear why someone would say that. Then again... anyone can post anything on the internet without a license.. ;D

I think its because alot of JG M4s use the 2 piece hop up unit. While the metal bodies mainly use 1 piece.
Metal hop up units are not that expensive either.

Huh, those are very good points I can see how it would be beneficial to have a metal hop up unit in general. The reason why I asked is because I was looking on ASGI at their metal bodies and in most of the descriptions they say to be sure to get a metal hop up unit.
