I think this whole deal won't help anything. Ok, so they look like real guns. True. They simulate a real weapon that can kill people, but they themselves can't kill you (unless you get hit in certain places or something specific happens...., but we don't need to get into that.)
So, if this logic is correct. If someone were to rob a bank or kill someone with a javelin, then a law should be passed to ban that sport from Track and Field. For it is also a dangerous weapon.
I could go on and on about the idiocy of this bill, but I won't.
Truth be told, If they are doing this to "protect" against bank robbing or people using airsoft guns to "fake using real guns" then... I personally would WANT THEM TO USE AIRSOFT GUNS.
Think about it a second. If your in a bank and a guy walks in with a gun and tells everyone to get on the floor. He is about to make a get away, but the cops show up and surround him. And truth be told his gun is an airsoft gun because he was to lazy to go through the hassle of getting a real one, legally or not. He can't kill us! Unless he bashes us or something... I personally would want him to have the option of getting a airsoft gun. That way when the time is dire such as up above, he can't kill anyone because his gun ISN'T REAL.
So, I believe we should not go with this bill because #1 it would hurt this sport very badly, #2 it would get people to think "now we have no rights in the sports we play?" #3 I personally love the "bad guys" having the option to be lazy and get a fake weapon.
If someone is dead set on robbing someone/ or place, they aren't going to just stop because we banned airsoft guns from looking "real". Instead they will #1 either paint the gun like most airsofters would to try to make it look real or #2 THEY WILL GET A REAL GUN. And if that happens and the story above comes true. Someone might really DIE...

Their not worried about an airsoft gun killing someone thats not there point at all. What they are getting at is the fact that these guns look too real. Which in all honesty most of the airsoft guns are on a 1:1 scale of actuly firearms. What they don't understand is people could then just spray paint the whole gun black, so your not really stopping anything.
I don't see them getting this bill passed since it isn't one of the more popular ones.
The way I look at it someone is dumb enought to rob a place and get shot by the cops in the process thats just natural selection.
It could be worse like my systema PTW's the Ohio ATF has stopped allowing them to be imported into the US do to them believeing you can modifiy them to fire a live round.

I didn't mean for that to come off as them being worried about airsoft guns killing people. I meant it exactly the way you just described. But I was also throwing in a personal opinion of letting the "criminals" have the option of an airsoft gun instead of a real gun. That way there is a better chance of no one dieing from a real weapon.
But yes. I don't think this bill will do very much of anything, and yes I agree with the Systema PTW part.

People just paint their guns anyways, and on top of that what ever gun they are doing this too will hardly get sold. Then the price of the gun will drop drastically cause the company just wants to get rid of it. If that occurs i will BUY the crap out of them and buy another two or three cans of spray bombs, then sell them to my friends.

UPDATE: www.ussportsmen.org/page.aspx?pid=2851 Bill failed to make it out of assembly for the second time. After the first voting on this bill failed, it was re-submitted it to the committees and also removed the "toy" gun from the description opening it up to all things like Daisy BB guns, airsoft and paintball guns, they also tried to set it up that each county had control of the interpretation of the bill, and decide if they wanted a BAN all together or had to be painted etc.
