I am waiting for a reply from the tech people from Evike about compatibility for internal parts (mainly piston, piston head). Also since i dont even mess with gearboxes is there anyone who could install internal upgrades. Unfortunately to get in and out of the gearbox you have to know how to solder. If no one can locally ill just have to send it in to evike for custom upgrades and it costs $35 an hour along with parts and shipping.

Also im looking for the possibility of just getting a whole new gearbox for it. The gearbox is an enhanced version 3. So does that mean that any version 3 gearbox would work for it?

I think it's actually a version 2 gearbox.

Also im looking for the possibility of just getting a whole new gearbox for it. The gearbox is an enhanced version 3. So does that mean that any version 3 gearbox would work for it? To answer your questions directly... yes and no Heres the short answer. ONLY get a gearbox that is rated FOR YOUR WEAPON to avoid complications. Now the long answer... first, the only difference between V2 and V3 boxes is the wall thickness and reinforcement of weak points in the V2 box. Thus, theoretically (and so far ive not found an exception) a V3 box will fit into a V2 weapon. Second, if you not comfortable working on the internals yourself, I would suggest purchasing a premade gearbox. Evike and Airsoftgi sell them in hundreds of configurations. Just pick the one you want. To the point of someone putting it in for you, yes. We have several people that tinker and would be able to install the parts/upgrades for you. Usually we ask for a small stipend for our time but its waaay less than a shop. I do alot of tinkering with my M4 (with more success's than failures currently haha) and I solder too. Gasgunner does too and I think Kid does. There are others, but I dont know all of their skill levels. Maybe they will post and let you know.

From what I been reading the Magpul just has a version 2 gear box I haven't seen any where that saids it's a version 3...and in that case you could proably just buy a gearbox for it. because your proably going to need to rebuild the whole gear box spring, gears and a new motor. I still say your better off leaveing the gun where it's at and just buy a JG or Cyma if you want something with more kick but it's your gun.

Looks like a combination of a Version 2 + 3. Here is the Pre-Production gearbox. OP, feel free to join www.arniesairsoft.co.uk/forums/index.php?showtopic=184343&hl=%20magpul%20%20pts%20%20acr&st=0 which is 104 pages, 2,000 replies about the Magpul PTS ACR. Looking at the air nozzle & motor cage, I can say that you probably can't get a drop in gearbox for it. From glancing over the picture & the thread on arnies it seems like these are proprietary: -Air Nozzle -Motor Caged V2 -Micro Switch -I've read it's real picky on pistons. One guy on page 100, post #1984 said "Piston would not go in whatsoever (and he tried several, trying more this week)... " -Might be more but I'm not going to read every reply on that thread...

Kid I would have to agree with ya.... looks like 6mm beraing.. maybe 7mm (hard for me to tell the difference sometimeS)... which would indicate it has some reinforcement.
Im curious too... why upgrade the piston and head? whats wrong with the stock option? are planning on running a 11v lipo? (if so... DONT! unless your want to do some upgrades. go with the lower volt lipos like the 7v or something)
just from the picture, I can see two area I would upgrade (but like i said.. i like to tinker and this in no way indicates the stock is poor). I would upgrade the nozzle to metal and the cylinder to a dual port (more efficient) IMHO.

My dad is going to be using the ACR as soon as i get my SR10. The internals are ok except for the piston and piston head they are both crappy plastic. When i first got my gun it took 2 days before the piston shattered. So i have no idea how long the piston will last. When it eventually breaks ill just use the gun as decoration if i cant get the piston replaced with a better one.

OK one final question. Ive been looking at the possible kwa model i want to get. So which has the best range and accuracy for the price. KWA SR10- 425mm barrel, V2 Gearbox $385 KWA G36c- 247mm barrel, V3 Gearbox $285
From what ive read everyone says that V3 gearboxes are better than V2. Also im a left handed shooter and the g36 is ambidextrous and the SR10 isnt.

Well if we have a game the first weekend in July I will be using my KWA SR10 I just ordered. Im so excited! But i have read some of the issues for the SR10. Sometimes the bucking it comes with is deformed and also the screw that holds the hopup adjustment lever can become loose. If mine comes with a deformed bucking ill just put in a systema bucking i have. And the best part is eventually when the gearbox breaks I can just get another reinforced one and drop it in then go back to work. And who knows how good its going to be. Most of these problems have probably been fixed since evike just got in a new shipment of them.
