Every once in a while we need to be reminded about things like this...
What started as an armed robbery at a Southeast Portland convenience store on Sunday ended early Monday when officers shot a suspect in that robbery near Laurelhurst Park.
Police said the shooting happened when a man stepped out of a car holding what appeared to be a pistol but later was found to be an airsoft pistol.
In all, four officers fired a total of seven shots at the man, who had earlier been sleeping in a Honda parked along Southeast 37th Avenue between Oak and Stark streets.
The shooting took place about 8 a.m. Officers administered first aid after the shooting and the man was taken to a Portland hospital with multiple wounds, but is expected to recover.
Police said Monday afternoon that his name, and the names of the four officers, would be released Tuesday. The officers have been placed on paid administrative leave, which is standard procedure.
Just FYI - Since I cannot stand what I consider Media bias against law enforcement I did change one part. That being this.
Police said the shooting happened when a man stepped out of a car holding an air pistol that looked like a real gun.
Do not tell me it is not slanted... if it was not then the story SHOULD have been printed as I corrected it... because lets face it... he jumped out of the car HOLDING A GUN !!!!!!! How the hell are cops supposed to know it's an airsoft gun... WOW.. Anyways.. back on point... stories like this just go to show how many stupid people there are and how someone will aLWAYS RUIN IT FOR OTHERS..
