So I went to play some cqb the other day and I got to thinking. My AEG only shoots like 290ish with .25. So I'm already way under cqb limits. And when I take it to the field some guys r running close to 400 with .2 bbs. So my question is. Should I take one of my other guns and upgrade it to the 400 fps range. Or should I look for a better over all field gun that is already built and ready to go.

FPS plays some factor in range for heavier bbs but hop up and its consistency is what you want to worry about first. Just my 2 cents. And its your choice if you want to make the investment in a higher fps field gun.

At our field there is a lot of need to get bbs through brush and leaves. I don't really want to spend money on buying a new gun. I do have a couple of other m4s that I don't really use and can't seem to sell. So I thought that I could use them as a base for building.

My personal gun shoots around 360 -380 fps w/.20 .. I find that it works good in field conditions. I understand what you are saying as field vs cqb are a whole different beast.
I would suggest dropping in a 120 or so to upgrade your weapon if you prefer field use.

My mg runs at 350 with good compression and tight ore kept clean I get good enough range and punch. 400fps is not the magical number, I guess that's my point here. And m110 or m120 in the g&g you got will work fine from what I've heard a m110 might be your best bet but I never saw a problem with it when I bummed it for fighting in the woods, personally I think it was a good mix of rof and range, might just be me, but consider trying out that combat machine yourself next week I think you already have the gun your looking for, and with medical bills getting me down I'm not sure if I can ever afford the darn thing

So I dropped a m120 spring into my ics and now it is super messed up. It won't fire on semi. I think it is a bad trigger set. But I don't know. It will fire on full auto just fine. I don't have a chrono to see if I actually gained anything. I am wondering what I did that caused the problem.

the issue is that it cant handle a 120 youll have to put in some high torqu e gears and a high toque motor...i dislike ice g&g for reasons like this

Well in airsoft you basically get what you pay for. So I guess if you eventually saved up and got a higher fps gun from a high-end trusted company... If only KWA made their guns like they used to (dont trust them now). My M16BR was a good 2011 production model and ive only had to tighten the motor contacts and its approaching a year old. My SR-10 was a 2010 production model and its 1.5yrs old and only had to have a new bucking and C-Clamp put in. So i dont know if im lucky but im guessing that the higher quality the gun is the less problems you can expect if you just leave it as it is.

I did not realize you had an ICS.... sorry. <------ years ago Dave put an M120 in his airsoft elite ICS and it split his gearbox is 1/2 !!!!!!! NO JOKE.... Like stated before. You want to make sure that you have good compression, strong tappet and a good tight bore kit. That will help with range and accuracy. The high torque motor is something that i have not had to replace but it would not surprise me with some of the guns on the market. Personally I would save up and get a G 4 from airsoft gi... good solid gun without going crazy with price. Right out of the box it will be ready for field use..
