Picked up the Tippmann M4 on Friday; figured I'd put up some pictures and a quick rundown of my brief experience with it's quality.
The rifle feels solid, no rattles. The exterior finish is nice, but this particular unit has a few blemishes on the body, like on the delta ring, sling mount, and a few spots near pins. Minor, but slightly disappointing for a new-out-of-the-box replica.
The hand guard is polymer; the closest quality I can think of is it feels like the polymer quad rails G&G uses on Combat Machines, just more rigid. The rail add-ons feel really close to the Magpul MOE rail pieces. I really wouldn’t worry about these parts breaking anytime soon.
The other odd thing I found is on the LE stock. The adjustment plunger has a screw with nut below it, instead of some of the nicer setups you see on standard stocks. It seems a bit thrown together.
I dry fired a CO2 bulb through, and I can instantly see how this is going to be an issue. As the bulb started getting low on gas, it would three round burst, and you could tell by the sound the velocity was dropping. After the bulb was spent, and the magazine ejected, there was the standard "pop, fizz and sputter" CO2 bulbs do. This would not be ideal for changing a mag in a hidden spot for example. I will say though that even on a CO2 bulb, I really enjoy the recoil.
Here is a video of what happens when you try to eject a mag with a full bulb still in it and not hold on to it:
I was not able to try a HPA or CO2 tank setup on it yet, as my box had an extra puncture valve assembly (for the CO2 bulb) instead of the fitting plug and locking tab needed to change out the functionality to HPA. Tippmann will be mailing me the part, so I'm hoping to have that early next week.
Here’s a few questions I’ve gotten so far with answers:
Q. Did they change out the response trigger? How is the trigger? Is it a clean break like letting disengaging a hammer or is it spongy like opening a valve?
A. Does not appear to be the response trigger any more. Feels like a clean break.
Q. Is the pistol grip removable? Doesn't seem like it.
A. Pistol grip is removable for maintenance, but proprietary to the system.
Q. Is the upper receiver thread compatible with AEG or RS rails?
A. Booligan said he successfully mounted the MadBull MFR rail if I remember correctly. The PTS Magpul MOE carbine length hand guard for AEGs does not fit, but the real steel MOE hand guard does fit perfectly. I saw a video from Doctor Milsim last night where he had an issue mounting a RS hand guard due to the mounting system. His barrel nut was flat, where RS has a bevel inward near the barrel. Tippmann custom cut him a different barrel nut, and said that'd carry over to production, but mine is the same flat nut.
Q. Is the outer barrel compatible with AEG, WA, or WE outer barrel?
A. Outer barrel is proprietary.
Q. Is the buffer tube Commercial or Mil-spec?
A. Mil-spec. My VFC 416 stock doesn’t fit. I put my M&P15 RS LE stock on, and it fits snug, no rattle. My MFT fits REALLY snug to where it requires some muscle to release and slide.
Q. Is the buffer tube removable?
A. Yes
Q. Is the lower receiver thread compatible with a RS buffer tube?
A. Not sure, haven’t broken it down that far yet.
Q. Is the body made of metal or plastic? I heard it mentioned before but I forgot.
A. Body is metal, fore grip and rails are polymer.

So far I'm excited to get the HPA parts, as I think it will be a great replica to run. Feel free to ask any questions, and I'll answer to the best of my ability.
