I need help making a decision on what kind of field gun to buy? I had a JG M4 but want to upgrade to a better gun within reason. I talked to someone at Airsplat and they recommended a gas blow back gun like a M4 or Sig. I don't care so much as the style of gun as much as the operation gas or electric. I stopped into PB today and they don't stock any and didn't really sound like gas was a good choice. I was just wondering if anyone has feed back before I buy my next gun. Thanks for any comments coming.

Personaly the best airsoft gun to really start out with is a JG S-System. I've seen these guns work great right out of the box. Theres a couple people here including myself who uses them.
Myself I'd never buy a gun that runs off gas.

gas doesnt work very good in the cold... i suggest that you go with an AEG [automatic electric gun]... i have like 15 to 20 guns... they are all electric except one .45 gas pistol and a HK style gas pistol... a good idea would be to buy "INTELLECT" battery... even if you do get a new gfun or not, you can probably get a 9.6 in your gun... [is it a small or large type of battery?] there is nothing wrong with the JG guns... most of mine are JG and they are WAY more dependable than any other i have... if you still have that M4, just get a 9.6 "intellect" battery and a good hop-up bucking and tight bore barrel.... cant go wrong with that....

Ok. I seen the JG M4-S system online for $ 225.00. That seemed ok I just didn't want to put a lot of upgrades into a new gun. I would rather buy one thats already good to go. PB has a Classic Army in stock and I think ICS? maybe.

Sorry to hear you don't work to well in the cold Gas. Have you ever thought of thermal underwear and some battery operated socks, might help you!

I sold the M-4 to one of the club members over the summer since my boy didn't bother to bring his grades up. The only gun I have left is the JG MP5. He wants to start playing and I told Pattie we would show up with him once I get another gun. I hope this weekend I can make my mind up.

haha... funny... i may walk funny, but i can still pull a trigger.... STEWY- i think that one S-system for that much is all metal and shoots 400+fps... you can get the exact same thing from JG with a plastic reciever and still shooting 400+fps for around 150.00 if money is an object or if you dont care if its plastic or not, you can use the money you'd save to buy a good battery and a "smart charger" so you have longer battery life.... just a thought...

yea... the classic army isnt good "physicaly"... they only shoot in the 300fps range, very weak.... getting a JG is your best bet... it doesnt cost that much [150ish for plastic reciever, 250ish for all metal] has the same internals... look at "AIRSOFT GI" or WEAPON BLENDER" or "EVIKE" for a JG S-system that shoots 400+fps and cost 150ish... that will get you goin real good... you can decide to go from there as far as money goes and the things you want on your gun... you wont be sorry if you got the S-system though... good luck!

I agree with just about everything said above. I too have a personal vendetta against gas powered airsoft guns for several reasons. Maintenance is more extensive, they are unreliable in the cold, you have more consumables to buy. and you would also have to worry about if u have enough gas in your mag to fire all the bbs inside it.
JG IS one of the best and most affordable brands out there. I highly reccommend it. And I will too agree that the S-System is one of the best and most reliable of the entire JG lineup. However me personally I didn't like the look and feel of the S-System when I had mine. I just prefer the standard handguard or RIS. LOL. But performance-wise it is excellent!!
