Well as some of you know I got into the world of GBBR's and bought a WE tech M4 and I could not be more happier. This thing just rocks right out of the d**n box. This keep in mind is an open bolt system we tech and not the older awss closed bolt system that is known to be absolutely crap.
The gun comes in the standard well known brown thin cardboard box. With a WE sticker and what gun it is on the outside. It doesn't offer alot of protection, but if you order through evike or airsoftgi they will more then likely be sent in their own shipping boxes, so it's not an issue. The gun is zip tied into place and cannot wiggle at all, it is also wrapped and sealed so the elements can't destroy the gun before you get to it.
The gun is finished nicely, though I suspect it will be like many WE guns and scratch easily. This can be seen as a nice feature for ageing. The foregrip is actually a descently made polymer furniture and I do not plan on adding and RIS foregrips. The delta ring is not as nice as I would like it to be and is measured for milspec not airsoft. The LE stock that comes with the gun rattles but can be fixed with a little bit of tape, I replaced mine with a Crane Stock for personal preference. The buffer tube is nice and metal.
Other things in the box are a magazine, a speed loader for the mags which is a plunger style for loading 15 rounds at a time into the 32 round magazines. I have had no leaks on these magazines and am consistently getting two mags full of gas in this cold weather. Not sure why everyone thinks these things suck when it's not boiling outside. The manual is also pretty good in terms of translation and information. It does not come with a cleaning rod, and you will need silicon oil because the gun is pretty dry on the inside when I got it.
The standard WE internals are known to break if not lubbed in the first 60 = 500 rounds however if you actually clean the dirty barrel and lube the bolt and nozzles you will see the internals go alot further then most reviews lead you to believe. Remeber these reviews can be written by kids who never clean or lube the gun and just let it rub dry metal on metal. The newest version (mine) comes with a rollar hammer and a rollar bolt things you have to pay for on the WA systems and older WE models. When these do break I will be keeping them stock as unfortunenlty RA tech has discontinued the M4 full trigger drop in, bastards....
The inner barrel does wobble in the outer barrel and I will be taping the inner barrel to fit more snug.
The only con I have found in the gun so far is the bolt catch needs a better spring and doesnt alway engage. More information to come.

So the first issue has arrived. Possibly the first to issues of the gun. First issue My retention pin which keeps the rear body pin from actually being fully removed from the gun has broken on my gun, easy fix. And the pin was therefore lost. I might be wrapping the pins in some tape to get them to be more snug in the gun. It shouldn't just fall out that easily.
The secound issue can be seen as a plus. My gun shoots at 330 fps at .40gram BB's in 22 degree F with green gas (KWA). This means this gun NEEDS an NPAS, a 20 dollar part which takes about 30 minutes to CAREFULLY install into the gun. More on this when mine arrives. THe good part of this is that because the gun fires at such a high fps toning this down to 350fps with .20s or 450fps with .20 will mean I will acheive higher gas efficiency and shot to shot equality. Something many people with gas guns complain about.

Since the gbbr is limited in ammo and will always be fired in semi auto. I will be making a build closer to a DMR build in the end yes. Although thats. kinda what's expected of someone using GBBR. 30 rounds goes sooooo fast. I still love it as a training tool and for the emersion factor, DO NOT BUY A GBBR FOR THE RECOIL! It is awesome. The sound is awesome. I bought mine for emersion, and training purposes, also I can understand their workings alot easier, plus the most expensive part of the gun like the bolt is all of a wooping 40 bucks. And if you break a bolt I'm curious as to what the hell you're doing to the gun. I wanted to take my game to more milsim based. You will never be top grade competitive with a GBBR! Cannot stress that enough. You will come up shorter then others with the gun. Make sure you have your priorities and wants in line when buying a gbbr.
-Purchasing Additions Soon (Finishing the Exterior Build and Beginning the Interior save up ETA 1 month) G&P 'Loud Hailer' G&P Supreme Flip Up 600mm rear sight. 6.01 Inner Barrel. 2 More We tech gas mags making the total 7.

got the npas in the mail yesterday I will be posting the results of the install and time it takes me being untrained using an online guide to add it to the gun. Also the gun will be fielded as a primary at Kalamazoo this week. AAR of the run will be posted.
I have had disappointment twice now. Safety can be engaged without chamfering a round. Still forced, wondering what's slipping where. Also retention pins retention screw is non replaceable at this time. Tape to save the day.

Why not go to a hardware store and get some pins just the one that holds the upper and lower together right?

Nice try, but no. The pins on an m4 should not fully slide out of the body, they are held in by a pin running inside parallel to body of the gun, which keeps the pin from fully falling out. My gun, this small pin holding in the body pin, lost a spring? I can fixit when I come across very very small springs maybe in some kind of pen?

Right thats how mine are but I don't see how a small bolt and nut wouldn't work might not be as quick to take a part but it'd still hold it together, well better then tape i'd think.

Tape for now. Plan to fix later. Mine is a small pin resting on a spring, the spring either snapped or fell out of place for now. The npas is going o be a pregnant dog. And with my college group project having me contemplate my sanity. Such a small issue will have to wait for now. Thanks for the suggestion though

The elapsed time for installing the NPAS was 1 hour and 15 minutes. The whole thing could have been a hundred times easier if it wasn't for a d**n rifling pin on the bolt that needed taken out, and I don't know if it's just me but pins and me do not get along. Anyway NPAS installed besides the pin on the bolt. Harmless installation.
Also installed a G&P Rear Sling Adapter to the buffer tube, fits like a charm. If anyone needs one for their WE Techs or WOC kits I highly recommend the part for quality.

Just took awhile to clean and inspect the internals of the WE-Tech. I shot maybe 500 Rounds at Kalimazoo? Alltogether the gun has seen 1000 rounds through it. Damage is minimal, Where it is rubbed it was when I got the gun, from the hand manufactoring process in taiwan. NPAS successfully lowered the fps to 350 on .20 thankully the first time I shot it.
Gun held up well I did have the outer shell casing on one mag become dislogded sperating the interior of the mag from the metal casing, eletrical tape wrapped around the inner part of the mag allowed for a tighter riensertion into the outer case and their were no more issue with that mag. The issue was caused as I dropped the magazine hard 3 times. Still absolutely no leaks from any of my magazines.
Another issue I had, was sometimes sometimes the bolt would catch when It didn't need to. This ended in me getting my arse blown off a couple times as when I went to shoot the gun did not fire. This was user error as I did not check before engaging, this happened all of 3 times in the whole of 5 hours near continous play. Also one mag decided to not fire? Not sure what happened went out it was gassed up still let it warm up and it fired fine.
The gun absolutely did not like me laying on the ground prone in the snow. For the next couple minutes it fired pretty gassy, but that is to be expected.

Found out that when I fired the gun from a C02 Magazine that the crown part #55 for those of you that may be reading this from elsewhere snapped. The part does not effect any performance that I can see in the guns firing. I got the C02 mag by accident.... Thanks evike.... I'm still not sure if this is the C02's fault or that this may be a part I will have issues with continuosly good thing is I can still shoot with no lost FPS to speak of with the small breakage. (Cost if repaired. $10 No biggy)
Ordered 3 more Magazines for the gun making the total 8. Plan is now to extend to nine, and make a custom over the barrel mock silencer, as the only ones being sold right now are for 14mm- CCW or the threads more common to the AEGs. Not the 14mm+ CW I need. If someone runs across one in the chairsofting that is 14mm+ let me know.
Over all I plan to make the gun relatively simple. I want the silencer and have a descent red dot. I am kinda bummed that the gun is not a gun fitting into the sopmod 1 or 2 block, but regardless I am liking it.
Thoughts on where to go from here? Paintjob? Hard because of my choice color of green for loadout. If done Im thinking just a standard OD on the Stock, and Hangaurd, and maybe pistol grip? Still have not fully convinced myself.
Purchasing of the entire AWSS Conversion to Open Bolt kit for 90 bucks on evike means I have a backup of nearly every part in the gun, including a bolt, a normally 60 dollar part. More reasearch if everything is one one or if this is a conversion kit only fitting the original AWSS.
Still waiting for the drop in RA-tech M4 kit to become avialiable again. I'm sure it will only be a matter of time, but RAT is worrying me the last couple of models of guns have been late to be supported.
Should also be noted I have past the 5000 Round mark on the gun. So far I have had only to issues. Loving this gun. Absolutely loving this gun.
