Alright, I went out on a limb and bought the Crosman Airmag M50.
Why:
I was just looking around at airsoft websites (which almost always leads to me buying something), and checked out one of my favorites, airsoftreports.com. They have the absolute best reviews available, hands down. Anyway, they reviewed the Crosman Airmag M50, which is literally a clear plastic C02 gun that you can get at a lot of Wal-mart and thingy's stores.
Surprisingly, they gave it a great review, and after my poor experiences with green gas and AEP's, I decided to try it out.
Ordering:
I got mine from Cabela's website for $35 + shipping (very reasonable, most online retailers have it for $70-$100). They had both the clear and black versions available, I chose the black.
I ordered on Thursday-Friday, and it arrived the following Wednesday, which awesome considering it was over a holiday (July 4th) weekend.
The Fit & Finish:
It's lightweight but solidly constructed. No, it's not going to take an excessive amount of abuse, but it will hold up to the skirmishing environment. The plastic is a bit shiny for my taste, but nothing a can of flat black spray paint won't fix. The magazine is weighted slightly, which gives the gun itself and overall nice, solid feel.
Operation:
It's a C02 gun, and although it is not advertized as a blowback, it does have a little recoil during firing. The C02 cartitridges are contained in the magazine itself, and are very easy to change. One unique feature about this gun is that the slide must be charged in order to chamber the first round of a new magazine. Otherwise, it will not fire.
Firing:
Sweet, crisp, smooth, semi-automatic firing. It has better range/accuracy/fps than my old $120+ KWA G19, and for $40! It's not going to be that effective as a main weapon, but it looks to be absolutely devastating as a sidearm. As you can see from the video review, it's shooting right around 300fps with .20g's, and arund 365fps with .12g's, which is much better than most stock green gas guns. It's not long range weapon by any means, but I think it will definately be able to provide suppressive fire at close/medium ranges.
Pros:
Cheap
High ROF
Good fps
C02 (more reliable than green gas, more power than an AEP)
Solid construction
Lightweight
Cons:
95% plastic
No extra magazines available (50rd mag included)
Won't fit most pistol holsters (i've got mine in a large dump pouch)
Conclusion:
For $35, you absolutely cannot go wrong with this gun. It packs a lot of firepower in a very compact frame.
