I ordered this from Pointact.com for $54.50, which makes it pretty much the cheapest bolt-action sniper rifle available. I've owned the $155.00 L96 (w/ scope and bipod), and sold it after not getting much use out of it, so I figured if I was going to purchase another bolt-action sniper rifle, it was going to be cheap.
I did my homework on this one, because there are so many options out there for bolt-action rifles, ranging from $55-$500. Believe it or not, this one actually performed as good as any WELL/JG/AGM according to all the reviews I read, so I ordered it along with a 4x32 scope.
First Impression:
About a week later, I was putting it together. The assembly was easy, but I noticed right away that something was a little off. In order for the magazine to actually feed a BB, I had to apply pressure on the bottom of the magazine itself while working the bolt. I almost sent the gun back because of this, but then I realized that I naturally put my hand on the magazine while working the bolt anyway, so I decided to at least give it a test run. The fit and finish is actually pretty good, as was confirmed when a friend of mine came over and while holding the gun asked if the stock was real wood. It's every bit as solid as any airsoft gun I've ever owned, but still keeps the weight down with the composite stock.
Accuracy:
I live in the city, so there's not a lot of room to do any real accuracy tests. The best I can do is park my car at the end of my 150ft driveway, lay down in the garage, and take potshots at it. This is a little risky though, because there are sidewalks nearby, and I don't want to even come close to hitting someone. For this reason, I took about 4 shots at it, and was able to nail the hubcap on my first shot from 150ft. Not bad considering that I just popped the scope right on and started firing with no adjustments.
First skirmish:
This is the real test. At BIA games, it was always difficult to get good shots off while going up against AEG's, so I was very anxious about my first game with the new gun. I now organize/attend springer-only games, so this evened the field a little bit. However, everyone else was still using 3-shot shotguns and aother pump-action shotguns, so my ROF was pretty flimsy compared to everyone else.
As soon as the first game started, my doubts were immediately put to rest. I was able to pick people off out to 150ft with ease, and to suppress as well. I was surprised that my opponents did not use my slow ROF to their advantage by laying down a constant barrage on my position while they moved up, but their loss was definately my gain. One guy on the other team even confirmed a near miss (8"-10") at just over 200ft. Needless to say, I was very impressed with the range and accuracy of my $55 sniper rifle.
Conclusion:
From my brief experience with this gun, I would consider it an excellent option for someone desiring to be an airsoft marksman. Sure, there are guns out there that hit harder, shoot further, and fly straighter. However, for $55, this is hands down the best airsoft sniper rifle that money can buy.
